Bukit Panjang Community Club (CC)

The Bukit Panjang Community Club is a great community centre for residents to meet up and take part in the many activities, chat over a meal at the kopitiam, book one of the sports facilities, or just simply to chat.

Facilities: The CC has various facilities such as badminton courts and basketball courts, Dancing studios, music rooms, and classrooms. These facilities are used by the various courses in the CC that cater to the young and old. There is also a foot reflexology centre too.

Courses: The CC has various courses for both the young and old. The courses range from language and arts classes to Wushu and an in-line skating course. The CC does not have as many sports courses as other CCs have.

History: The CC was last renovated in 2010. The renovation included adding a kopitiam and repainting the walls of the basketball court, a covering for the badminton court. The complete details are at this website.

Dairy Farm Nature Reserve

This is dairy farm Nature Park, a lovely park with lots of flora and fauna to relax you as you take a stroll down the lane.

Park Info: It has lots of facilities such as trails for hiking and mountain biking, and special amenities such as the Wallace Education Centre which houses a learning lab and an interpretative centre, a nature trail where visitors can learn about the flora and fauna of the park through the eyes of English naturalist Alfred Wallace, and a former quarry which has been transformed into a wetland with a viewing platform for visitors to appreciate the freshwater flora and fauna. Sounds like a great place huh? You probably would not get to use the WELL unless your school brought you there. Anyway the place is very relaxing. The park is part of the Bukit Timah nature Reserve. Here is a map of the place that I took of the place. It shows most of what is there.

Note: the park surrounds the Bukit Timah nature reserve and some of the trails can be a bit treacherous, be careful when mountain biking in the area.

The park was opened on 5 Sep 2009 to relieve the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. It is a rather new park and you should try to visit it if you can.

Facilities: The park is linked to Zhenghua park and has many trails, namely the wallace trail, the quarry... The Park has a couple rest stops and two carparks. The WELL and MOE adventure course are good options for schools to bring the students to as they are very engaging.

History: The park's history is clearly stated in the WELL, but I did not get to see much of it, although I know that the park has a history dating back to the 1950s.

Ten mile Junction

Ten mile junction is a shopping centre built in 1996, it is currently closed for renovation and should be opened by the end of 2011. It is the headquarters of  SMRT LRT and most of the trains are parked there in the top story. It is accessible through the Route C LRT service. It is situated just beside a railroad (yes the regular one that is on the ground) that goes all the way to Malaysia. The shopping center includes a supermarket and a foodcourt, not to mention a hardware store and various types of stores. A great shopping centre. Will be even greater after renovation.
